Quality Health Care Close to Home

Cleveland Area Hospital is an independent, self-managed Critical Access Hospital serving the rural area approximately half an hour west of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Cleveland Area Hospital has served our region since 1963 and employs about 200 professionals.

Our 24/7 ER is staffed by OSU Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physicians, averaging nearly 600 patients monthly. Cleveland Area Hospital includes, in part, Physical, Occupational, Speech, Sports and Orthopedic Rehabilitation, Swing Bed & Skilled Nursing Services, 24/7 Lab, Respiratory Therapy and Radiology, 64-Slice CT, Ultrasound and 3D Mammography.

Our Campus is also home to Lake Area Medical Associates, a primary care clinic with 6 full-time providers and extended hours from 7am – 7pm, Monday – Friday. A recently completed expansion and renovation project brings a beautifully polished facility and leading-edge primary care to the region.  LAMA is a certified VA clinic and is a service of Cleveland Area Hospital.
Our History
In March of 1961, community members came together to discuss the need for a hospital facility. Pioneered by two like-minded physicians, Joe Hanson, D.O., and M.L. Saddoris, M.D., Cleveland Area Hospital Foundation was chartered by the state of Oklahoma in December that same year.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Tulsa Mabee foundation, funds raised by the hospital foundation, and land donated by long-standing community members Mr. and Mrs. Swan, the dream of building the hospital became a reality.  Groundbreaking ceremonies were held on July 20, 1962, and Cleveland Area Hospital provided medical care to their first patient in August of 1963.
Community support is integral to the survival of rural hospitals and Cleveland community members have continued to show their support. One of the most direct displays of support occurred when the community members passed the one-cent sales tax in 1988 for hospital usage.

Where We Are Now
The far-reaching impact of Cleveland Area Hospital on this region places us in a unique position. The strategic plan for our hospital includes building a new facility that continues to increase accessibility and accommodation of higher volumes as well as return of surgical services. Growing responsibly and sustainably along with investment and focus on our culture and employee development has strategically placed us to maintain longevity and redefine rural healthcare.
